Jungle Tales was the theme of Jeff and Heather Setzler's travelling VBS, with an emphasis on Creation. We actually started last Saturday and went this Thursday. Every evening highlighted a different one of God's creatures. The kids studied about Monkeys, Alligators/Crocodiles, Big Cats and Dinosaurs. I taught the 3-4 yr old since it wasn't really geared for them. The night usually began with a game called Monkey madness and then Heather would share the story of Mary Slessor from the book "Run Ma Run." Then there was a penny offering. We would then have the kids split into groups to learn there verses and then it was snack time (the one night we were in charge of snacks and made dirt pudding). Then Mr Jeff would share a lesson about the different animals in the Bible before finishing up the evening. Downstairs I taught our little ones about the days of creation. It was exciting in the fact that we had many visitors..who do not even come to our AWANA program. I think the biggest night we had 45 kids. That evening was our last night and we had a special lady from a local pet store come to the church with 2 alligators, and iguana, ball python and a pastel boa (which I held!). That was followed by hot dogs and closed our fun for the week. Caleb did really well memorizing verses and earning points this weekend even earned a first place ribbon for the youngest kids group. With that he also received a dino coloring book. That is what happened each night...in the daytime, we also had fun, and did a lot of work this week.
Last Saturday and this Monday we worked cows/calves. I got my first calf kick and ended up with a nice bruise on my leg. It went pretty well. One day we took the boys across our back road to a little park and had fun there, we also have been picking black raspberries, flowers for the table, and more beans from the garden. We have about 20 green tomatoes on the vine, so one of these days we are going to have more than we know what to do with. Mike has been fixing fence and moving equipment to help my dad out. My dad has been battling a really severe cough lately. One other exciting piece of news from Monday, we found out my sister Kristi is having her 3rd girl!!

What a neat sounding VBS! I bet the kids had a ball learning about all the different animals along with the regular VBS type stuff. I'm envious of your upcoming tomato harvest -- we have three potted tomato plants and only one green one so far!
