Job 37:5-7 God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend. For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength. He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work.

Deer in the headlights
Ok well not quite and tonight the table was turned. Me and the boys had been exercising in a hot room, I ran a mile under 10 minutes and did some Ab work, outside it was slightly sprinkling and I thought it would be a great time to take the boys puddle jumping, get my heart rate down and cool me down. Well it hadn't rained for the last 3 days but there is a place behind our house near a gas well that usually has some puddles. We were talking the whole way about Poplar leaves and daisies as well as how someday I'm going to take them crawdad hunting. We were almost to the well when Caleb spotted some deer. I couldn't see them from my side of the road and he said there were 2 no 3. As I moved over with Titus to see we saw 2 baby fawns. Oh how cute twins! But then they got spooked and started to run up the road (toward us) which made the mom not very happy. I'm glad she wasn't a mama black bear but she might as well have been. She started zig zaging toward us while she grunted and snorted the whole way. Then I was scared for my "young," living up at Northland you hear about deer attacks. Well the fawns run past us and thankfully the doe took a different turn through the woods. I still wasn't sure if she was going to come back out and attack so I tried to hide my kids up a little embankment so if she did they would be safe. Caleb got a muddy hand and scratched by a thorn bush before I thought about the gas well instead. It has stairs and a small platform so we climbed that and waited at least 5 minutes waiting for that mama to find her young, hide them and realize we weren't there to hurt her. On the way back out I told the boys we should sing (not only to calm our hearts) but also so the deer would hear us if she was still there. As we got out of the woods we thanked God that we weren't hurt. I hope the boys won't be scared to go back down in the woods with me after this, never in my 30 years did I think I might be mulled by a deer..till tonight's panic situation.

I'm not sure why this is so funny...but I laughed so hard! Probably cause I can relate to the panic that you probably were having. Glad you stayed safe on your hike. Look out for those momma's. =)
