January 29, Leap Day

We had an interesting start to our Leap Day. At 3 AM we were awakened by the Tornado Siren, conveniently located across the road from our bedroom window. When the boys started school this year they had some "Tornado drills" and when I found out I decided I better figure out what to do, seeing I have never lived in an area where we had to worry about it. The advice online was to get in your bathtub and put a mattress over you or go to a room with the most walls around it and no windows. So immediately when I heard the alarm I woke up Mike then put Abe in the bathtub, which at that time Mike comes in and says "What are you doing?" Which I reply to "getting everyone into the bathtub!" He said no we are going to the closet (we have our first ever walk in closet and it is surrounded by many walls...plus I'm not sure why I ever thought all 5 of us would fit in the bathtub. Mike grabbed his I-pad so we could track the storm and make sure we were doing what we were suppose to be doing. When the alert went off on the I-pad we climbed back in bed only to have another siren go off about 3 minutes later (which we found out later to be the "all clear" siren) so we all raced back to the closet but realized things were OK to go back to bed. Mountain Home was fine only reporting some hail but Branson had a tornado hit down one of their main roads and I know it continued through the next day causing more damage. Abe was also worried the following day and kept asking what he could take in the closet if the siren went off again, what he should do if we hear that sound, that he didn't think he should go to nap b/c it might go off again.... I guess Toranado season has begun, but so has Spring here in Arkansas. :)
The Grand Prix was also the night of January 29 and I found out my mom and grandma are going to come here for Spring Break! :) Definitely a memorable Leap Day for us!
