Friendship Banquet

My Date

Our teen servers
The Desserts
The Rolls

Mike and I volunteered to make the food for this year's friendship banquet. We kept with the same menu as usual but made it homemade, rather then the frozen store version. Friday the boys had off school for parent/teachers conference so we took them to church and let them play in the gym while Mike and I made 6 big pans (their called "tailgating" size) of lasagna. The worst part was not getting to eat it that night. Saturday we made our desserts. Mike did the 2 double layer lemon strawberry pound cake and I made 4 chocolate bunt cakes. He also attempted to make a replica of Outback's bread but it didn't turn out good this time and we had to throw all that hard work away. We went out and bought Rhodes frozen bread dough which are really great rolls that look and taste homemade. Mike also made a special butter for the bread. Sunday Mike went into church early and got the lasagna cooking and beans as well as made the drinks. The teens arrived around 5:30 and helped serve the meal. They also provided music during the dinner. Mike did his mouse trap skit and had a devotional from I Corinthians 13. We ended up having over 100 people there counting the teens. I had several girls come help me with dishes afterward and I really enjoyed getting to know them better. It is strange for me not to know the teens better as that was where are main ministry was for so many years. They were so sweet and I do hope to get to spend more time with them again soon. I also enjoyed getting to know some of our teens parents, I sat with 2 of their families for the meal. We have many teens that attend other churches but come to our AWANA program and that is the reason I don't know them well. We also had some interested in camp this summer, which I am already really excited about!
