Our Mini-Vacation

This past Thursday we were able to leave for a family vacation to Atlanta, GA - part money from Mike's parents for our Christmas gift, part free hotel nights from our Credit card, and part our own money. We had good travelling both ways and I was thankful I didn't feel any sickness while we were away (just hunger). Thursday night we had planned to go mini-golfing but it was pouring the rain down (which it did pretty much the whole time). We went out for dinner - a 1 mile trip to Arbys according to our GPS - after much traffic, many "recalculating" and me digging through our glove box and finding a gift card - we end up at "Little Italy's Maggianos." The food was sooo good! Mike had shrimp alfredo, the boys lasagna and me chicken parm. and alfredo noodles. Then we went back to the hotel and swam (We did a lot of swimming in the indoor pool b/c of all the rain). Thursday we went to the Georgia Aquarium - it was super cool and we had a wonderful time. We were greeted by "Deepo" the orange fish when we got there - then we pet some stingrays, hammerhead sharks, and starfish. Next we saw some new things - sea dragons, Spider lobsters, whale sharks...then we watched a 3-D video that was sooo cool. The kids sat on our laps and you could feel them cringe every time the fish jumped out at them. We ate some pizza and finished up just in time for naps back at the hotel. Again we planned to go mini-golfing since the rain had pretty much stopped but on our way across town our 20 min drive turned to an hour - we ate at Chick-fil-a played in their kids area then headed to Bass Pro Shops instead. Caleb and Mike shot some guns and the kids sat on the 4-wheelers then we headed back to the hotel for more swimming. Saturday morning we got up had breakfast, then more swimming then our trip back home. I still had to clean church tonight and Mike is preaching 3 times tomorrow. Anyway it was so nice being away - and just long enough. We had a great time even though I would never want to live there (or really any big city). Enjoy the pictures! The kids got souvenirs to remember our weekend - Caleb a whale shark he affectionately calls "sidewalk chalk" and Titus got a Deepo fish. Caleb didn't sleep near as well at the hotel (neither did his parents) but Titus made great progress in keeping his diaper dry for long periods of time - I think its about time for some potty training!

Sounds like a great get-away! Thank the Lord you had an indoor pool to use while it rained buckets! I've never eaten at a maggiano's but have always heard great things about them.
