Family Life Seminar

This weekend we had Rand Hummel in to do a couples conference on Saturday and then morning services Sunday. I was thankful to be able to attend all the sessions instead of working, we had 5 girls volunteer to watch the kids and Mike and Pastor Wheeler each did a lesson. Mike also cooked a wonderful chicken cordon blue, mashed potatoes, salad and cheesecake lunch. I just got to fellowship and enjoy some wonderful teaching! Here are a few of the highlights We as parents are the only ones that get to teach our children how to be moms and dads. There are 3 elements of a Godly home found in Col 3:18-19 the foundation is the Husbands love - not fantasy, worldly love but as God loved the church - Unconditionally, Unquestioned, Uninterrupted, Unselfish, and Unending. The next element is the wives submission, putting yourself under his authority, showing respect, and accepting what love he gives. The main theme Rand talked about was not having a discontented heart - this kind of heart compares, complains, criticizes, and craves more - this heart will never be content. It believes God has not been fair. We must learn to be content by focusing on Christ and being thankful for what we can. The third element is the children's quickly, sweetly and complete obedience.
For the afternoon session the topic was raising your kids in a high tech world. How we should be an example as I Tim 4:12 describes, even on our phones, in our blogs, facebook accounts. . . SS was on how to raise a rebel and I missed Sunday morning because I was working nursery (we had 8 kids - crazy!). There are several things I need to change right away I was so thankful for this time this weekend!

What a wonderful seminar! I am so thankful for opportunities like that. Your boys are sooo cute! The older one looks just like you! My in-laws are from PA. They can only come once or twice a year. We see them every summer. I love having them here!
Love ya.
