A typical African day

Began this morning with Holly bringing me breakfast in bed..homemade torillas and eggs. the eggs looked more like chicken, very white and different texture but good still. Then we went to school for a few hours. Laura helped with a few things there and I worked on a lesson for the Akwaya village. Then Ellen came around 10 and picked us up to do some visitation. One of the visits we got to go into one of the mud brick homes and visit with a sweet lady and her 2 boys. She had a newspaper with Obama hung on her wall, 4 stools and a lepord patterned coffe table. Outside were pigs in pens chickens with babies. We have also seen many goats and even a big pig riding on the lap of someone on a motorcycle. We made a few more visits around the village and then went to a hospital where we visited with 4 men who have TB. After that we came home for a lasagna lunch and took a short nap while we were waiting for Holly and Marnie to get back from school. Then we went to another hospital to see a baby and her mom..baby was born premature, 10 weeks early..so little. Then to the market where I got some goard spoons and "tissue" material. the tailor wasn't there today so we will have to go back to get things made. Good prices on those! Then home again. A family stopped by with a sick little boy then we all went up to the family conference. It starts early around 5, so people can walk home before dark but it went really long but that was because the people were asking so many questions about marriage. so it was good but we didn't get to eat till 8:30...taco/bean cassarole, spicy rice, and guacamole and lettace. We have to soak all lettace, fruit and veggies in bleach water 20 minutes before eating. So far my belly feels fine!
Also we wash all the dishes in bleach. Took a bath tonight in a little basin filled with 4 inches of water. can't say I have done that before but we did heat the water on the stove so it was warm :) they say we have been spoiled with having electricity and water so much :) Now its time for bed. crawling under the bug net..have seen spiders, a really little scorpion, termites and cockroaches in the house so far.
