the rest of the story

Since so many of you commented on Caleb's sleeping mask I thought I should answer your questions. One day we were watching something on TV and Caleb saw a girl with a sleep mask on. Caleb said "Mom, someday I want to wear one of those." Well Mike and I had received some on our Quantas flight from NZ. Caleb lays down for a nap everyday and it used to be that he would lie there and stare at the ceiling for 2 hrs. Lately he wasn't even getting a nap about 2 days out of the week. I always felt like it was just b/c he wouldn't close his eyes and try. So the mask idea was exciting for him and me. Let me let you, it has been over a week now and Caleb has taken a nap every day and he has been asleep within 15 min of laying down. It has been so wonderful to have a rested boy plus not having him get up several times to ask if he could get up as well as rolling around and being noisy while his other 2 brothers tried to sleep. The other trick i use is putting a cloth over the door when Caleb is allowed out of bed (for me that is when he falls asleep)..this is to avoid him getting up asking if he can get up. He has no problem sleeping in the mask. Titus wore one twice but doesn't care for it. He already takes good naps, sometimes still 3 hrs and remember he is still 3 1/2 years old. Abe still takes 3 naps a day and I am really surprised by that seeing he is going on 11 months. I'm thankful for my good nappers and the quiet time it gives me each day so I will keep this pattern up as long as it keeps working :)

All I have to say is PRAISE THE LORD!!! Aaron stopped taking naps right before he turned 3, which just happened to be right before Megan was born. I would lay him down and would give MULTIPLE spankings because he didn't want to lay down. After a couple weeks of fighting him over this I thought that it just wasn't worth it - ya know, choose your battles. I was scared because I knew I would need a nap time/quiet time once Megan was born. Somehow it all seemed to work out, but some days I really wish he would nap!!! I make him lay down, but he normally just messes around. Might have to try this trick! Glad you are getting your quiet time AND rested boys!!!! What a blessing!
