Of course my boys are excited about making the traditional bunny cake, dying eggs and putting funny faces on them, an egg hunt, and of course the candy and presents, but I do not want my kids to miss the real excitement of Easter - Christ died for our sins and rose again. Last year I read Noel Piper's book about traditions and I loved her ideas around Easter. Each day the boys and I read stories involving the first passover and the last supper up to Christ's death and Resurrection. Starting Wednesday night at dinner we have 3 candles lit and each night after one less till Friday night all the candles are blown out until Sunday morning when Christ arose. We also sing the chorus of "He Lives" before school each day this week. I like doing the Easter egg hunt with the resurrection eggs and again sharing the details of the Easter story with the boys. Lastly on Sunday morning I want the focus to be on being in the Lord's house, celebrating and being thankful for Christ did for us on Calvary. When the boys get up they find the candles lit and a little person no longer in the tomb (under a bowl) but risen. For He is not Here, He is Risen, just as he said! This year we will be here at the farm with my parents. My dad makes such good food, looking forward to it.
Today my bought took us to Southern States and got the boys (maybe me) a bunny. I picked him up and although I thought I didn't want a rabbit I couldn't resist' This bunny sat so still, it didn't try to claw me and run away, and he/she is so cute. It has a black tail and backside a white middle and a black head with one white stripe up the nose...so we call it Oreo. Abe loved it. Mike got me flowers and a cheese danish. I hope each of you have a wonderful Easter week. I hope each of you have accepted Christ as your Saviour. Praise God, I serve a Risen Saviour
