Names of God - 2

If God sees the sparrow’s fall,
Paints the lilies short and tall,
Gives the skies their azure hue,
Will He not then care for you? —Anon.

This month in my teen girls SS class we focused on the "El" names of God. Remember El means unlimited power, strength, might, energy. We studied El Elyon - the Most High, the strongest strong one. It is so wonderful to know God not only created the world but He is still involved, protecting, and fulfilling his purpose of his creation. Although we have been given a free will, God so rules and overrules in this universe that nothing can thwart his plans.
Also God is El Shaddai - God Almighty who is my protector, breasted one, the pourer forth of blessings. The Picture is of a mother giving life and nourishment to her baby but also of a Daddy holding, comforting, and protecting his own. He is the unconditional lover of my soul.
He is El Olam - the Everlasting God. He does not faint and He is our refuge. He is timeless, he has always been and always will be. He knows my past, my present, and my future.
Lastly, we looked at El Roi - The God who sees me. He is everywhere all the time, he never sleeps and is never caught off guard. In times of loneliness God knows where we are (as well as all other times). In times of discouragement from within (Elijah) In times of Opposition from without (Daniel) When we are deserted (Paul and Christ) Christ understands our loneliness. We are never really alone when we know God.
We will be studying the names of God for another 2 months. This month on Wednesday nights we will having a missionary each night.
