Our First Missions Conference

We had such a wonderful week here at Faith of Davison. This was our first mission conference, it was from last Saturday to this past Wednesday. We were able to stay with Mike's parents but still enjoy food and fellowship every night with other families. It was especially special with this being Mike's home church. Mike didn't always live for the Lord and you can see the excitement of the older people as they listen to where the Lord has brought Mike to. Mike and I have had a burden for missions for so long yet the Lord never opened doors for us to go or even where. It is now so exciting to be able to share that journey and lessons with others. It was a very busy week though - Mike spoke at least 15 times for elementary classes, high school classes, chapels, and Jr church times. I was able to help with some of that and spoke for the high school girls chapel. Roger, Mike and I also sang one night while Tina played the piano for us. I hope we were a blessing to them because they certainly spoiled us. Besides all the great meals and fellowship, one Sunday school class had been collecting money to give us gift cards to several restaurants during our travels, a teen made us brownies, we received cash gifts as well as a trip to the missionary closet. There have been several things I have looked at in the stores over the last couple of months but with the move and uncertainly of the future I didn't buy much but so many of those things we received - my biggest blessing - a long red dress coat, much needed since I haven't got a warm coat since our days in Buffalo. I also received some little blessings - knee socks and slippers. Mike got a new drill, tape measure and undershirts. The boys got some cool toys - K'nex (my new favorite toy), soccer ball, Nerf b-ball, matchbox cars, sweater for Titus and socks for Caleb. Abe got diapers (the only pack there - his size!) and a soft foam airplane. What a special blessing each of these were! Brain Trainer was the main speaker for the week, we also were able to get to know two other missionaries better. I must admit I was worried about deputation but I think I might really enjoy it!

We have your prayer card and magnet on our refrigerator and I remember to keep praying for you. Sometimes I hold Noah up to the picture and ask him to point out Caleb and Titus--and he can do it! :) Miss you lots.

I look back on our deputation days with very good memories. I'm not saying it was always "easy" but this time of life -- language school-- definitely isn't either. :-) Ministry doesn't start when you get to the field so maybe that's why you had those "good" feelings about deputation as it's a unique ministry for sure -- so many opportunities. Excited for you.
