My mom is 50

I was talking to my mom today about turning the big 50 - she's over the hill now, and as she was telling me it's hard to think more than half your life is passed. My mom has done a lot of investing in her 50 years, since she was saved at the age of 12. The first thing that comes to my mind about my mom is teacher - and although she was my teacher throughout my high school years she also teaches with her life.
She has 6 children and 4 grandchildren, but besides the daily encouragement and instruction she gives us, She is also a SS teacher for 2nd and 3rd graders and an AWANAS leader for the 5th and 6th grade girls. She is much more concerned about the inside of a person than the outside. I am so thankful for this quality in her. Also when I think of my mom I think of Assistant/Helper. She has faithfully (30 years) helped my dad in the hay fields, cow and sheep jobs, and all other farm duties as well as jumped in whether it be an assistant coach, flower arranger at church, cleaning up a place. She is not so concerned about being recognized as being faithful and bringing glory to God's name. I remember my mom keeping journals of her devotions and other thoughts for each of us kids. I admired that and do it myself now. Also when I had come home for college breaks I would hear her praying with my younger siblings during their homeschooling sessions - never hurried, always revealing a great relationship with her father.
Some of my favorite memories are going back to her childhood home in NJ every summer to spend time together as a family, I also remember her taking us on picnics, the park, gymnastics and many trips to the Wilds, even Missions Trips. Then most recently them coming to Fl last year. My mom was there a lot during school and church trips, but I'm thankful for her love, interest in my life and of others. She is a really special lady, mom and grandma. Happy Birthday! We love you lots!!
